The Club was formed in the north of England by a small group of enthusiasts who wanted to know more about the cars and meet some fellow owners. It has grown from these early beginnings back in August 1978 when only 4 members attended the first annual get together to what is now recognised the world over as an enthusiastic participant of the "Classic Car Movement" with members in many countries Worldwide. |

At the helm, a committee is elected each year at the Clubs Annual General Meeting, from nominee's taken from Club members. As a result the Club enjoys a friendly membership, all having a common interest in the S800 and more laterly, the N/Z family of cars. It is the aim of the Club to promote and maintain interest in the Honda S800, and make the S800 a more enjoyable car to own by encouraging communication between as many owners and enthusiasts as possible. The Club enjoys an active membership who participate in events all over the world. |

You do not have to own a S800 to join us. In many cases enthusiasts join the Club to locate a car to purchase. We have a list of cars known to be presently available which can be accessed by Club members. Whatever your reasons to get in contact, we want to see that the Honda S800 continues to be a regular sight on the roads and at organised events. With continued and refreshed support from you as an enthusiast I am sure that we will continue to achieve this goal. We always state that this is a members Club, here to help you the member further your own interest and enjoyment in the Honda S800. |

| Social / Competition: | ||
|
The Club offers monthly meetings within the UK. These are organised by the members and typically involve discussing Club events, technical information, swapping parts, showing photos of their projects and of course showing off their cars. We also organise Social evenings and Classic Car runs including visits to places of interest. We receive numerous invitations during the course of the year to different shows and events so there is sure to be something happening in your particular area. |

Road rallies have become very popular in recent years and are probably a less costly way of taking part in competitive motor sport, letting the S800 cut down to size much larger competition on the twisting back roads. Classic car runs and shows are more popular today than they have ever been, and many members participate in these, which gives promotion to both the car and the Club. Within the Club we have several immaculate examples of the marque which have won prestigious national concours awards. |
||
| Honda UK | ||
| Within Great
Britain we enjoy a good relationship with Honda UK, and have assisted
them with their promotions from time to time. Recently we assisted with
Honda's displays at the British Grand Prix and at the Goodwood Festival
of Speed by supplying cars to both these prestigious events. Honda UK
kindly reciprocate by providing a stand for our annual attendance at the
NEC Classic Car Show in November. Club members cars have also been used by Honda U.K. and by numerous magazines both on the launch of new vehicles and for side by side comparisons with contemporary cars. |
||
| Honda N-types & Z600: | ||
|
|
The Club has
extended its scope of operation to include enthusiasts interested in the
Honda N360/N600 & Z600 cars. These fascinating little air cooled
'twin' engined cars were the start of Hondas production of vehicles for
mass transportation which today sees them established one of the major
players in the worldwide market. We have several members who own these examples of automotive history and we have a dedicated contact point within the club. Spares for these vehicles are still available, and through the club you will also have access to invaluable expertise. Space in the Club magazine has been allocated for owners to promote the cars and deal with technical issues. Owners of such cars are especially welcome at all Club events and shows. |
|
| Club Magazine: | ||
| The award winning(*) club
magazine 'REVS'
is compiled from members articles and
letters as well as those written by the committee. 'REVS' is published
throughout the year and is free to all current members. It features tips
on how to maintain and protect your S800, topical matters, a lively
letters page, road tests, write ups on recent Club events, stories about
restoration projects, forthcoming meetings and a free 'For Sale and
Wanted' section where members can advertise their cars & parts for
sale, or try to locate those parts you require. (* Winner of the prestigious Classic and Sportscar Magazine awards in 1990/1991 and 2000/2001) |

| Insurance: | ||
| In the UK, the
Club has a number of companies listed who can provide insurance cover
for the vehicles at very competitive terms. The insurance rates are
linked to an agreed limited mileage (3000, 5000 or 6000 miles) in common
with most policies of this type and have the benefit of agreed value
terms. More details can be found on the 'Spares and Services' button link. |
||
| UK Road Tax: | ||
| Within the U.K.
all Honda S800s and early N360, N600 and Z600 presently qualify for zero
road taxation due to their "Historic Vehicle" classification. |
||
| Spares: | ||
| Peter
Rose at Sherwood Garage (a club member) is the UK stockist for S800,
S600, Z600 and N360/600 parts. He can also assist members with an engine
rebuild service and many other technical services. A fair number of spares are still available new from Honda which is amazing for a car that has been out of production for over 38 years. Some items are discontinued, and our spares suppliers are now having parts re-manufactured, sometimes with a cost saving on the original item. With the growth of the Classic Car movement there is a plethora of companies able to offer renovation services such as plating, machining and repair. We have a recently joined Club member located in the Midlands area of the UK who is re-manufacturing wings and various panels for the cars. Examples of the standard achieved can usually be seen at the NEC Classic Car Show. Most of the long established members have their own stock of spares and some are willing to swap or sell these spares between the members. In addition the club does have some reclaimed spares which are available to members only. |
